A study of Southern Pacific’s Friant Branch which connected with the Valley main at Fresno. The author takes us on a 1950's tour of operations during the harvest season in which trainloads of fruit, vegetables, cotton, lumber, and wine were forwarded from growers and packing houses to destinations all over the country. The line ran out through open residential farm and ranch countryside and was as much a part of the landscape of California’s Central Valley as the clear blue skies and beautiful rolling hills covered with golden grass. 8½ x 11 vertical format 56 pages, soft cover, 89 Photos, 18 in color, 9 Maps, Bibliography.
